Mom of a One and half year old
"He has been saying more..."
"He seems to have more confidence with the things we’re doing on the daily now in regard to promoting his talking. He has been saying more and even came out of the blue with a THREE WORD PHRASE!!"
Mom of a two year old
"I used the techniques you taught us to get him to do that"
"I'm more patient with my son and trying to model through play a lot more. I'm always offering choices and counting even basic sounds as WINS now. This last one is very important because it motivates everyone more. My son started to say "choo choo" when he is playing with his train now and I used the techniques you taught us to get him to do that."
Mom of a One year old
"It has given us the confidence..."
"It has given us the confidence to get the ball rolling and use strategies that will be effective in his learning process."
Teaching kids to talk is what I do all day long.
Hi! I'm a speech pathologist from New Jersey and a mom of 3: a preschooler, a toddler, and an infant.
I studied linguistics and child language development at Cornell University and earned my Master's degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
But even with all that education and 10 years as a practicing speech pathologist, nothing compares to what I've learned from motherhood.
When my younger son was late with his talking, I realized I had to kick all of the knowledge I had as a professional and a mom into high gear. In the process, I discovered a way to fit the most effective speech techniques into our (beautifully) chaotic life so that he could learn to talk and truly thrive.
Around the same time, I started Toddler Talking Tips to show parents that they were already so capable of helping their toddlers, especially with a little insider knowledge.
Elliot's language skills are off the charts now, and in the meantime I've connected with moms all over the world to teach them simple but powerful strategies to get their toddlers talking.
